Remove Silent Thunder on a 2000 Fastech 271?

Has anyone done this? I read a number of posts on larger, new fastechs but couldn't find anything on a 271.

If anyone has done it, what did you do and how does it look & sounds. Pics and videos would be great.

If I read the other posts correctly, it looks like you can remove the silent thunder box and just istall tips. New to this boat, and boating in general, but like loud cars and motorcycles and want my boat to be much loader than it is now.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Just unbolt it and put some flappers on the tips. 20 minute job, tops!

I literally just did this last week on my 271. Simply unbolt the 4 bolts on the back, 2 on the transom (will need someone in the bilge to hold a wrench on the nut, and PULL. There is a gasket/sticky material that you will have to break the seal then it will slide right off. Takes 2 people. You wont notice it being louder in the boat, but will notice it being louder at the dock. Don't have to put tips on it, but 2 4" rubber flappers would probably be a good idea (even though it has internal flappers)

Also send me a PM with a phone number and I'll text you a few vids.

Don't forget to reinstall the 4 bolts. Most important step in the removal process. Throw a bead of some 4200 or 5200 to set the bolt head in for a water tight seal.

Good call, should have added that. Especially on the 2 that go through the transom, don't want that to rot out. Also, all the bolts are above the water line, so at least that is good news.
