Flush Mount VDO Gauge Change Out

Will be changing out the VDO flush mount gauges this winter, any tricks, tips, or suggestions from those that have done this upgrade? Plan on adding more gauges than already there, anybody know someone that can make a new dash with holes pre cut? May try to add a Garmin 440 series in the mix.
