Can someone educate me on Boat Lifts?

Ok, so I bought a 2005 formula 400ss and need a lift. At first I thought I could only purchase the hydrohoist side tie model because I have a floating dock. I have the main pier in front of me and a side pier down one side of my boat (perry’s landing marina in Erie PA if you need to reference it). But now im not so sure after seeing other lifts?

I defiantly want the floating dock as i feel installation each year would be easier.

So….. give me your thoughts? Make/model of (used, I do not want to spend new) lifts that could work for me….

I would think a boat that size would need to be attached at both sides for stability. I have an 18000 lb lift attached to a floating pier but it has 2 fingers on each side to attach my lift to. Would recommend calling Drew Boat Lift (drewlift.com) in MO. I and some of my friends have purchased lifts from them and they are very good with great prices. Also Dockrealty.org has some used lifts for sale.

You may also want to consider how you are going to park your boat (Back in or Nose first) the lifts are different, Never buy a Galvanized lift IMHO. Last but not least get sidewalks on both sides for easy cleaning and if possible a full wrap around floor.

Well unfortunately i only have 1 pier down the one side of my boat, this is why i originally was stuck on the hydrohoist side tie "b model" i originally had spec'd for my my boat

That model does not need to be attached on either side it simply just ties to your dock like you would tie your boat to your dock.

I did contact dockrealty and this is basically what they told me, i'm stuck with this one model from hydrohoist.

Just a thought, do you have room to add a couple of pilings on the other side to create another finger to attach the lift? I have seen this done without having to build a full pier finger.

I am at a loss then, I would still recommend to call drew boatlift I think they could give you better information than most, they may have another alternative for you.
