AXA's Blinged up 353 Has A New Home!

So... Here's what's happening in case you don't follow the TIBBC thread:

Badmonkey is now the official owner of Chillin The Most!

They say that the best day of a boat owners life is the day they buy and the day they sell their boat...I'm here to say that this may not be the case.

It is sort of bittersweet, I watched as a whole bunch of memories drove down the road this morning.

Here's the best news, I may have ended an 8 1/2 year love affair with my 353, but started a new friendship with a really great guy Chris (Class Act!). He has the same attitude and beliefs about how things should be cared for as I and many of my friends do and I know that Chillin is going to good people.

I hope that he has the same passion and enjoys her as much as I have and wish him the best with his first twin! He got a good one.

For those of you who are wondering, I wasn't planning on selling Chillin and hadn't even advertised it, but Chris came to me and made me a fair and reasonable offer and I couldn't think of a better person to carry on from here!

Chris,

Congratulations, Good Luck and be safe, she will be faithful to you as long as you own her!

Best,
Dave

badmonkey 11-06-2014 07:12 AM

As mentioned by Dave, "Chillin The Most" is at her new home....:party-smiley-048:

Buying this boat has been a process that words can not express. By far one of the best experiences of my life. Not only being so fortunate to have ownership of it, but most importantly the friendship I've made with Dave (Bling Daddy). "Class Act" ...This man is the true definition of this.

I am proud to be the owner of Chillin and part of the Formula family. I look forward to sharing photos, stories, etc and making new friends within the Formula family....:boat:

Dave,

Thanks for everything. I will take great care of her.....:ernaehrung004:

Your friend,

Chris

Splitdecision271 11-06-2014 07:16 AM

WOW! The good part of this story is knowing that she's going to a good home and will be cared for with the same amount of passion that you had for her. I can remember being 11 watching the boat that I grew up on, the boat which ignited my passion for being on the water. The first boat I ever captained, now being sold and driving off down the road. That was tough and it wasn't even mine, so I can relate to what you are feeling.

NOW.... does the fun begin? What's next? Or are you going to surprise the same way you did with the sale!!!!

Splitdecision271 11-06-2014 07:33 AM

badmonkey... let me be the first to welcome you to the Formula family. Truly a great bunch of people. Where in do you boat primarily, as I see your from Maryland?

Hopefully we'll get the opportunity to meet up at one of the many Formula events help here in the NorthEast next summer. Be sure the check out formulaboatowners.com, another great resource of information into these boats.. Steve who runs the website puts on a great Formula event at the Golden Nugget in AC every July. Also be sure to check out Formula Owners of New Jersey on Facebook. I met Tom, who owns the page, 5 years ago at the 1st Birds on the Bay Formula Rendezvous he had organized and I've been to everyone since. It continues to grow every year and just gets bigger and better. I've had the opportunity to meet some really great people who I boat with on a regular basis now every summer. Alwyas looking to meet new faces, hear some new stories, and check out some great Formulas.

Now comes the hard part. Looking at your new boat all winter long and letting that anticipation for the first warm day of Spring to just continute to build up. Hope you enjoy her as much as Dave has.

Split,

Thanks for the warm welcome. Yes, we are very excited for the warmth to come back. I will certainly look into the Formula sites you mentioned and get myself to the events. Maybe we can get Dave to fly down and join us. Our boating is on the Chesapeake Bay. We are in such a great area. We are 10 minutes from downtown Baltimore Harbor, 20 minutes from Annapolis (Naval Academy..very cool), 20 minutes from Maryland's Eastern Shore...it truly is endless boating.

As winter is coming in, Chillin is in a warm spot for winter. I look forward to spending time going thru everything and getting acclimated to her. It's relationship building time....LOL. I would be lying if a said I haven't already had talks and stroked her belly...lol :bananalove:

The way I see it is I am the luckiest SOB on the planet.... Christmas came early this year at our house... :santa:

Here is the power boys. As you can see, "Master Bling" AKA: AXA himself did an outstanding job.

Flame arrestors are factory equipment. Wish you the best with the rebuild this winter. Send us pics as you go.

Congrats to all ..... wondering what the next chapter might bring.... I'm thinking maybe a cruiser? SS? .... our "RazzleDazzle" might be our last go fast ....m

CBlakeNS 11-09-2014 06:55 AM

Good looking rig man! Congrats!

badmonkey 12-12-2014 04:20 PM

Well, Now that "Chillin" is resting comfortably indoors in the heat, its time for some add-ons to happen...funny I know. What could possibly need to be added to "Chillin". Well, that's a good question. AXA basically did everything. The whole reason I wanted the boat...He did it just as I did the Scarab...PERFECT !!!!. However, AXA never made the water glow...THAT"S WHAT I"M DOING !!!! :party-smiley-048:

Now the question is, who sells the best underwater lights. I am thinking of either going with just RED lights or just BLUE...??? What does the public think? OSO's "Tread" gave me a good lead on underwater LED's...was hoping to get additional insight from those of you that have added underwater LED's. I've seen "Spitdecision's" RED lights in photos and they look really cool. We installed BLUE ones on the Scarab...

This time I want big time lighting. What's the best bang for the buck and how many should we install to not make too over the top? Ya I know, over the top is cool... lol....:evilb:

How do they look when you are in the water at home? How many lights did you install ?

Splitdecision271 12-13-2014 03:46 PM

I put 3 out back. With the trim tabs not much room on the outside of either drive so they are installed right at the waterline so that makes them a lil brighter too. I didn't have much choice. They do okay up here in these waters nothing like down there though.

88242LS 12-13-2014 06:43 PM

I'd recommend sending a PM to Perfect Storm, his were the cats azz

Splitdecision271 12-15-2014 08:02 AM

From the research I've done, RED is the toughest color to shine through. BLUE will def be brighter than RED but I got more RED in my boat than BLUE, plus I haven't seen to many boats lighting it up all RED out the back. So made my decision a bit easier. To be honest boat doesn't sit overnight in the water all that much. Maybe a total of 21 days this year. Plus I don't have any shore power connection so I've always been hesitant about leaving them on all night in fear of draining down battery. However I left them on overnight in Florida and had no issues.

Monkey you could also go bi-color. I suggested that to my Dad since his boat has yellow red blue. It brings a lot of attention and looks pretty cool.

These are pics i took from the Atlantic City Rendezvous this past summer.

** the red and green was from Sirmixalot DJ Castine shooting lasers off his boat.

Please excuse the old man top up on my boat in the background but i hate my upholstery and dash getting dewy.

Grab the ones that change to multiple colors or flash all different colors. That way you can decide at the time!

Chris,

Just saw and read this thread. Congrats on the purchase from AXA, he does know how to do things up right. Had no idea you were talking about the "new to you" 353. Can't wait to see you and your ladies (boat and Admiral) on the water.

38fountainecman 12-17-2014 05:45 PM

I put shadow casters on my Fountain express cruiser. I'm not crashing the Formula front, I'm actually a former 292 SR1, 357SR1 and 419 Fastec owner. Shadow caster has a series of lights that allow you to change color, flash them, etc. They are called color casters. They go white, blue, red and green. Pretty cool stuff. I currently have two installed between the drives and installed two facing out sideways on my trim tabs. Congrats on the boat, Formulas are truly amazing machines. I'll never forget the 419 Fastec, had triple 525 super charged with the CMI exhaust. Talk about a cool engine compartment.

LEDs are here for engine bay already. Probably won't have any on the outside. I want to get speakers done first.
