Manifolds and risers
 

Have a 07 292, and looking to replace the manifold and risers (350 MAG, dry joint) Anyone use Barr for these replacements instead of Merc's??? Just wondering.......quite a big price difference.

Did mine 2 years ago, went with mercs, $1200 for both motors. I also did new plugs and wires. Looked into the stainless setup, which was around $1200 per motor, for what I do boating wise I couldn't justify the price diff. Boat will be 68-70 mph with or without.

I had a 2007 292 and replace the exhaust with the Stainless Marine manifolds. The Stainless manifolds lightened the motors by about 160 pounds, it really helped the boat come on plane quicker. The exhaust also sounded much better.

Made it rain is correct, taking that weight off really helps the 292 plane.

I'm sure the weight reduction would have helped, as all the weight in these boats is in the rear. That's the whole reason why I looked into the EMI's and Stainless systems, but in the end the cost to benefit just wasn't there for me. Not sure I'd know what to do if she wasn't a slug out of the hole.

just did the imco swap. Looking forward to better planing when I have a boat load of fat chicks

Did you block off the prop exhaust like I did with the IMCO. If you did I then removed the pinwheel baffels in the tip as I thought I had too much back pressure. Made it loud as hell though.

After IMCO exhaust coming on plane, its the weight you will not pick up any speed.

No speed gain at all? i was thinking about putting some new exhaust on my sb 350's for looks and weight and a few mph!!!

My son in law made this video after we installed the Stainless Marine exhaust. It sounded better, picked up a little on the top end, and came on plane much faster.
