Latham steering cylinder location, what is the best spot?

I see the hydraulic steer cylinders mounted to the outside of the drives and some mounted between the drives. What is the difference in the location? Is there an advantage or benefit to one spot over the other?
Are there pros and cons between the two mounting locations?
Is there any difference with hydraulic steering mounting locations on triples vs doubles?

I am just curious because I don't know about installation of this system and I see it different on a lot of boats.

Aqua, is this for your 357? I am going to add external steering to my 311 and need to go between the drives because of the silent thunder platform. Even then, I don't know if I will be able to raise the drives all the way up without them hitting in the center. Before I do it I want to get some good pics and/or advice from someone with an SR1 with the platform on. I think my rams are 8 or 9 inches.

My 357 should be sold next week or even today. I haven't bought a system but knowing all the installation info is how I learn about something. I have a deal on a 419 and while I was looking at ads I notiiced the rams mounted differently so I wondered what it was all about. The boat I made a deal on has the ST and the rams are on either side of the center drive. The boat without ST had the rams on the outside corners of the transom. This is why I started this thread to learn more about the dynamics of external systems.
Since you all need info too I hope it can benefit us all.

So far not much to go on. I also posted this in the general boating area so check there too for more info.
