fuel pick up tube?
any one know where this would be located on an 86 242 ls I checked under the rear seat and there were 2 access panels but one just had the filler hose and vent hose and under the other had what looks to be a 3/4 plug for inspecting the fuel tank any help would be great thanks

On the aft end of the fuel tank right in front of the engine

Is it easy to get to? I need to inspect it for a fuel feed concern but unfortunately I have it up the lake so I can't get to it until this weekend

Yeah, should be a 90 degree fitting (with a check valve). The line off it just goes from there to the water separator/fuel pump. The fitting with the check valve can become clogged and the engine starves for fuel.

Either replace it with a brass one or knock the ball and spring out of yours. Real common issue. A little harder to start after a week or two of sitting, but no starvation issues. Dave |
Excellent! Thanks a lot guys! Hopefully this was the issue! I'll keep you updated

Big problem a few years ago. Prior to ethanol tank builders were using a plastic tube as a fuel tube inside the tank. Add magic ethanol and the fuel tube expanded around the fitting it is clamped to. Imagine that. Vacuum leak at the top inside the tank. Caused all kinds of issues .EZ to check and replace. Hard to diagnose without unscrewing from the top of the tank. Thanks
