292 SR1 head plumbing
 

I'll spare you guys the smelly details leading up to my question. Did a search, didn't find any answers.

Does anyone have any drawings or sketches that would depict the routing of the plumbing from the head to the macerator and the location of the grey water holding tank on a 88' 292? And/or the possible location of a Y valve if there is one?
I've chased down all the plumbing I can find for what I think is associated with the head. I found some cut hoses and some that have been blocked off ie capped by the pervious owner. In short someone (who will pay for his Joke) used the head without my knowledge, which I don't use because I knew it wasn't functional. NowI have a hacked up system and a tank that needs to be cleaned out. So I might as well fix it for the women folk wile I am at it.

Seems like a fairly simple system. I just don't want to send something somewhere that it isn't suppose to go!

Any help would be appreciated.

Getting ready to completely gut my boat and redo it. I have no need for the entire plumbing for the macerator that was in mine. If you need parts let me know.

My 1990 292 SR1 had a port-a-potty which has the holding tank built in. I did have a macerator that used a 2" white waste hose from the port-a-potty down along the starboard gunnel back to the bildge. There was no separate holding tank in the head or in the bildge. Switch the macerator on and it pumped from the port-a-potty directly out the bottom of the boat. Had a guy hit the switch one time when we were all in the water behind the boat. Saw the blue/green cloud and you should have seen everyone de-ass the water onto the boat. After that, I dis-connected the switch so no one could accidentally discharge waste. Hope this helps.

I was able to figure out the plumbing with some further investigation.

Mine is an 88' and it's set up the same way as you described. It could be said that from 88' to 90' that the head and macerator systems are the same lay out.

For potential new owners of 292's and to contribute to the group for those that may not know. I'll give a description of how My plumbing is layed out. Starting at the head working aft. The Porta potti is a Thetford 735 MSD. Which is completely self contained. Off of the back right hand side of the bottom half (which is the holding tank) there are 2 hoses. A 2" hose (to macerator)and a 3/4" hose (vent hose) both hoses go down the starboard gunnel. Just before the starboard gunnel bulkhead to the engine compartment there is a Y valve. One side goes to the intake of the macerator which is mounted on the engine compartment side of the aforementioned bulkhead. The other side of the Y is self explanatory as you can see the hoses. The discharge of the macerator goes to a thru hull fitting under the starboard engine. This is how mine is set up, your mileage may vary.

Since the Porta potty is self contained. I am going to just cap off the fittings where the hoses attach to the Porta potti. Then just remove it for cleaning after use. Perhaps this will help someone in the future.
