Merc 8.2 380 vs Volvo 380
 

Most likely I will be ordering a new 270 BR next Feb. when I move to Lake Norman - question is - which engine do you think is a better choice for this boat

I worked on and still do for both engines. IMO the Volvo LS 380. Less problems to. I hate to say it as I always like the big blocks.

IMO it all depends on service in your area and available parts. Low volume dealers don't necessarily get parts on demand

Did the same research last fall. Went with the Volvo. No regrets.

I am use too cruising around at 3000-3200 rpm at 30 - 33 mph with a big block merc - it seems the volvo is a high revving engine and would probably be cruising at 4000 + rpm to do the same speed. Does it get annoying with the engine running that high and how about longevity ?
