1992 242ls ?

Hi guys looking at a 1992 242. I see a lot of 89"s out there & for sale. Not very many 1992's any specific reason for this. I'm a fountain guy & thought of picking up another boat to play around with on smaller lakes. Anything info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Check the HIN to see if in fact it is a 1991. I am not sure any 242's were made in 1992, maybe a few, as that it around the time when the integrated swim platforms came into being and the 242 morphed into the 252.

92 was a transition year with a mix of the older style models with the bolt on platform and the newer style with the integrated platform. For instance the brochure shows both the 242 and the 271. That being said, I don't ever remember seeing a 1992 206/223/242 for sale. Maybe there were a few left over so the numbers were small.

Ok. Thanks guys. I'm gonna go look at it this week. Looks nice & clean for a 1992. Or 1991. We'll find out.

88,89,90's are definitely the most popular, but could also be that people are holding on to their 92s. If you find one, you may have just found a gem

Well guys guess in fact it is a 1992. The title says it & them emblem on the side. I'm trying to post pics but don't know how. Lol.

Did you buy it from a guy by Detroit named Nick?

29 fountain 08-14-2015 10:49 PM

I did Jon. Were you the owner before him ?

Jon01 08-15-2015 02:16 AM

I was. Bought it a couple summers back with a cracked block then work schedule got crazy and knew I wouldn't be able to finish it so sold it to Nick. I believe I picked it up from the original owner who had it everywhere from SE Florida to the northeast to Kentucky which is where I picked it up at.
I forgot, I have a bimini in my attic for it, if you are ever down around Iowa let me know and I'll pass it off to you.

That's cool, finding a boats previous owner just by chance. I guess that's why we do what we do on here.

Yes it is cool. Specially from it happening from on here. Thanks Jon. If I am ever that way I will look ya up for sure !

I have a 92 223LS, and it's the only one I've ever seen around, and everyone is always surprised when then ask what year it is. I always chalked it up to the economy being particularly lousy at the time. It does have some nice updates that I liked over the earlier years, just cockpit trim type stuff. Sold my 37PC and looking to move up to a 353 so will be putting it up for sale soon...
