What have you pulled up with your anchor??????????

We anchored out in Lanier this weekend and had a great time. When it was time to go I was trying to get the anchor up and it would not budge. So I backed the boat around 180° and sure enough the anchor line got loose. So I climbed up on the deck to pull up the anchor and it still had a lot of weight on it so I figured I must be hauling up a tree limb or something heavy like that. When the anchor came up there was the end of a rope caught in the swivel of the shank and one blade. I got the rope loose and started hauling it up and there was some chain and then another anchor. :eekdrop: My girls wanted to keep it as a lost sunken treasure but the chain was so badly rusted that the crap was making a mess just splashing on the deck from my hand so I threw it back in. Besides, it was a little anchor that wouldn't really hold my boat anyway.

So what have you hauled up with your anchor?

Jimmy Hoffa, but I threw him back. Don't need the FBI climbing all over my boat.

A buddy did the same thing.....only it was a fortress X16 with 250 ft of 1/2 line and chain on it. (must have been a $400 rig!)

Beads, beads and more beads from the PC and occasionally a pair of sunglasses, but usually they're not worth a crap.

A rock the size of a volley ball with a Bruce anchor.

LOL.

Just a few anchors for myself.

Looks like anchors is more common than I thought.

True story: Person on friends boat throw the anchor as we all watch (and yell) that the line is disappearing and there it goes, into the deep abyss. Way too deep to dive. Friend is pissed all day. We go to leave and my anchor pulls up his. LOL.

I DID THE EXACT SAME THING

Years ago (back when we had 9 planets). my dad had made an anchor from heck - it was a piece of solid iron- this sucker had to weigh 30 pounds- for a fishing boat. I was SCUBA diving at our lake with a friend and thru the anchor over the side of the boat - thinking it was attached -- WRONG- Ok we are diving - we jumped in thinking we could at least find the rope-- WRONG couldn't find it -- had to come home and tell that that I lost the anchor -- thought he was going to have a stroke--- URGH

I laugh about this till today - What is worse - I have a similar anchor only I had it made from a piece of Titanium -- We have it permanently attached to the fishing boat-- experience is a good teacher!
