First day of fall boating
2 Attachment(s)
So yesterday was the official first day of fall. The weather around here has been perfect lately and I just couldn't take it. The wife and I took off work yesterday and spent the day on the beach then a nice dinner at a restaurant on the river. Mid 80's, full sun, light breeze and not at work. Doesn't get much better than that!

Nice!

Yea. Fall welcomed us this weekend on the Jersey coast with 20-25mph winds with gusts of 31. THANKS FALL!!!!!
Hoping October will be more kind. |
Our fall came with rain, rain and more rain. Hopefully we will be out when this rain stops. Today started to dry out nicely so I hope it holds for a while.

Supposed to be 80 this weekend, still in the process of moving and getting old house prepped for sale. So will I be boating this weekend? NFW :angry-smiley-038::angry-smiley-038:

Thanks guys. Sorry to hear some of you are not as lucky.
Last Wednesday we played hooky again and had a great day with temperatures in the mid 70's. Anchored behind one of the islands on the Mississippi river, caught some fish while relaxing and listening to tunes. What a way to break up the week. Finished the day with a good meal at a restaurant on the Illinois River. This week is looking great again (highs in the low 80's), so we may try and do it again.:drink: That may be it though since long range forecast is not looking good with highs in the 50-60's and wet. |
We are planning to get out this weekend and go leaf looking on the Tennessee river. Looking forward to a great time.

Hey all you Formula owners that live in a region where with that dreaded 'winterizing' word, post some pics of those final days of the 2015 boating season. I love boating this time of year. Only have the diehard boaters still making it out and very little if any lake lice... |

Wasn't a work hooky day but the weather was great down here in SE Texas and burning $1.81/gal gas is a real treat!!

October weather has been very good to us so far, but that looks to end soon. Here are some pics from yesterday. Low 80's and beautiful out. Nice way to finish out the season.
It has been very dry lately so the leaf colors aren't as good as they could be. |

A sea plane landed and took off on the river.
Kim took the boat pic as I was pulling out of our slip. I think the reflection is pretty cool. |
Jersey has not been too Fall Boating Friendly as of yet. Either to chilly or too windy on the weekends. Yesterday and today were excellent if you dont have a M-F job. Hopefully this weekend I will get some cruising in.

That part of the Missouri river looks much more boater friendly than the only part I've ever seen. That part would be in Jeff City heading to LOTO. Nice! Fall is normally my busiest and favorite part of the boating season. Unfortunately my boat went boom in mid-September. :(

You are right about the Missouri River. It is more muddy, has a much stiffer current and definitely not as 'scenic'. We live in Washington, MO which is right on the Missouri River, so we got a Ranger fish-and-ski to explore. This summer we took a 70 mile trip by boat to Jeff City and the pic below is the capital. The next pic is looking up the Osage River where it feeds into the Missouri. I could follow that all the way to LOTO, but it gets way too shallow in parts. There are actually some nice, big beaches on the Missouri River and you definitely don't have to deal with crowds. The Ranger has a 150 HP Optimax and is a fun, practical little boat. How about over 6 mpg?! With the current of course.:drink: |

Thanks. Sorry to hear about your boat. The pictures above are the Mississippi River above St. Louis. We keep our Formula at a marina on the Mississippi during the season.
