292 sr1
How fast before they get ill handling how fast have you been and how much power
|
I think you need full hydraulic steering much past 70, my 311 was a handfull until i added it now it's rock solid. Other than than that no issues that I know of. Does your 292 have the built in hook? My 272 did but my 311 doesnt.
|
I echo Mr. Maine. I had a 1990 292 SR1 with 365 mags and first generation bravo 1 lowers. Added Bob's nose cones to prevent blow out above 65 and then added full hydraulic steering. After adding stainless marine exhaust ran 70-72 GPS with no handling issues what so ever. Mine had a built in hook above the strake.

I believe that the first two or three 292 SR-1s were built without the wedge between the chine and first strake. They discovered the boat got a little "porpoisy" and they pulled the mold out of production and added them. That model and the smaller SR-1, LS and SS models all got them. The 311 and 357 did not.
Some days it pays to be an old goat. |

Not exactly the identical situation, but a friend built a 1990 311 with innovation built 502's putting out about 520 hp and he saw right at 80-82 with bravo drives and 3 blade bravo 1 props.
