353 Fast Tec bulkhead repair question
I just got into the engine bay of the boat I just purchased. Looks like the step that also holds the pump out for the head is broken off. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do to fix the problem. I am going to have to look at it more when I have some more time but it looks like the wood is still solid but the screws just seem to have been to small? I was hoping that maybe there was a way to get in and through bolt at least some of them? Thanks for any advice. I seem to recall some one fixing this in the past but could not find the thread. I could of course go with larger screws but that seems like a temporary fix as well?

I had a question about a Formula I was looking at. I called the company and they were great answering my questions.

I knew you had a few formulas but the 353 is new

FWIW.. the newer fastec hulls esp the 353 have issues with the bonding of the engine liner..make sure that those screws are not part of the liner being bolted in..when they come loose the front of the liner flops around in the waves..

The Donzi is turn key. Always has been. In fact I just purchased a brand new interior for it from PPI. :-) How you doing buddy? Hope all is well.

I will try and get some this weekend if weather holds I am planning on trying to get at this. I took a quick look the other day and there does appear to be a few places that I may be able to through bolt the thing. If that is the case I will do that to the locations I can get to and then over size the other screws. Just need to make sure there is nothing behind the bulkhead that a slightly longer screw will not hit like the gas tank!

Your Donzi is a nice boat, overpowered and therefore slightly dangerous if not respected, but a very nice boat.
I'm getting by just fine. Thanks for asking. Haven't gotten to do the amount of sport boating that's I'd like, as there always seems to be a group and the SunSport and the wave runners seem a better fit for the group. But, have done work to the dock to allow the 302 to be stored at lake on lift, and hopefully that will increase the use it sees next summer. Have also gotten into long distance motorcycle touring, ridden in 48 states so far, including Alaska, and that somewhat competes with boating time, except for the real hot months, when the water wins. Hope all is well for you and your family. |
