What does sr-1 mean

I have an 88 242 single big block bravo boat ,anyway was wondering what the sr-1means on the coast guard tag on the boat ??i thought sr-1 meant twins ?

My understanding has it that the "SR" is a coast guard boating classification meaning "sport runabout" and it listed under "category 1." So the SR1 is put together under this meaning.

If I remember correctly it is supposed to be S to the third power, or S cubed for 'Speed, Stability and Structure'.

Yes that is exactly it. I thought about using that naming my 419 FASTech "3 of a Kind" with the 3 in the name like Formula uses it in the logo. Might still go with "Enterprise" since I am captain Kirk. Would make quite a conversation piece anyway. lol

I work here and even I don't know for sure, but I believe the designator may have meant to hearken to the SR-71 aircraft...it just sounded cool.
