New Interior
 

The big project this summer was to replace the cockpit vinyl. It had gotten a little stiff in the past couple of years, and some seams were cracked and letting go. Also, the side panels all had a green tinge to the white and green, which is something I saw in every 272 we looked at before buying this one. In replacing it, we wanted to update the look a little, too. So we decided to ditch the Palm Beach heritage and eliminated the pink and black from the sunpad, bench, and side panels. We didn't touch the bolsters since they were still good and I didn't want to know how much that would cost. The side panels were done in wolmanized wood, and the green was either from the chemicals or mold. The vinyl guy epoxied them so that they wouldn't bleed thru anymore. Anyways, here's the before...

Yeah, there was some rain. We had just come out from a Sunday brunch when the storm hit. Winds went to at least 40mph, then driving rain, and solid 4 footers. It was all I could do to keep her pointed into the waves. It was the only storm we got caught in all summer though.

Did mine last winter , but kept it original , including the magenta. The only difference I made was the front side panels (along side the bolsters), I changed them to light teal.Didn't do the black stuff on the dash and around the cabin door , but was thinking about changing that to light teal also just to brighten it up.

looks killer. I hope to do mine soon. looking at painting the black dash on my 91 311 but to much work to remove windsheild.

Looks REAL good! Who did the work?

I had gotten an estimate from arguably the best marine canvas/upholstry shop in the Detroit area. He quoted me for just the sunpad and bench, no side panels or the armrests - $3500. I knew they were really good and expensive, but holy crap, I couldn't see dropping 10+% of the value of the boat in just part of the interior. Couple weeks later we were anchored out in a bay and saw a cool older 27' Magnum with red and white striped vinyl and it looked really good. I walked over and asked who did it and he gave me the name of a guy in St. Clair Shores, Rick Adams, who used to work in a shop and now does it out of his house. His price came in about half of the first place (including the side panels and armrests) and he could do it that week. There's one spot that he wanted to re-do and I'll take it back to him at the end of the season. One thing I really like about the job is that the vinyl matches now. Before the white, black, and dark teal were smooth and the light teal and magenta had a definate grain in them. It always looked a little odd to me.
