I started this thread a few years ago. The 272 one was there, but seems to have disappeared. The 311/357 etc. are still there.

I got it from an OSO member a while ago. PM me your email and I will send it to you. That was the only entry for 272 SR-1.

I don't think a 5.7EFI was available for a few years, and the 350 only made 300hp, the 6.2 makes 320. I have a 1991 sales handbook that says with T-350 mags, 270hp, 23p, ran 58mph.

No formula had the mecruiser racing 5.7 liter 320 HP EFI motors as an option in 1988 I know and own, and also 89 I believe.

in 87 the 272 with 5.7 mags(270hp) alphas went 62 on the formula's sheet.
I have the OSO posted sheets but not fotr the 88/272 sr1 . This is what im looking for

I got the sheet from scott smith at formula a member hooked me up with the email. it went
twin 270 60, twin 7.4 65 and my 320 efi 65 also
with the twin 270 mag @3000rpm it used 18/gph at 36mph

My 272 with 7.4s ran a consistent 64 on GPS. It had 25 mirage props and would cruise 40 to 42 at 3000rpm and 50 at 3500. With your 320efi I would think you would be running 23s, but spinning the engines higher.

yes 23's are the stock props. rpm is 5000-5400

Was the 320 efi not even an option in 88'? Where do you think the 88' 272 sr-1 with 320 efi would end up on the spec sheet?

Let us know how it goes, when do you plan on running it?

had it out this weekend, full tank<133 gals> 4 adults 60 degees. 67 on speedo and 62.8. gps, 4800 rpms could not trim out enough on stb drive, need to replace weak trim motor.

Mr Maine 04-20-2016 07:32 AM

Awesome, sounds like it is running great. That much fuel with 4 people is a pretty good load. 1 person and half that fuel would probably get you 64-65. Although Formula said 60 with 270hp mags, 58 or so was more realistic with people I've talked to that had them.

well the boat performed very well ran cool oil pressure same exact on both motors, idles mint. hammer down goes on plan much faster than my 242 ss with a 4 blade. I will be replacing the stbd trim motor so I can trim it under full load. it sounds real scratchy....at 62.8 gps and all that weight and basically no stbd drive trim, I should see 65 gps anyway and over 70 on the stock speedo. I like that the stock speedo reads a little high.
