Dash 242

So I wanted to know if anyone has successfully painted the dash of a 242 or similar dash. Mine has the black cover that looks terrible due to the sun beating on it for years. It makes the boat look so old.

I am hoping someone has done it and could tell me what they used and how it has held up.

Thank you guys!!!

I've seen boats with it done. Pictures look good but they can be deceiving. It comes down to if you want it, just do it. Find someone willing to do the work and have them spray it. Would you go white or stick with the black.

I would go white for sure.

What about a charcoal? All late 80s Formula's had some grey in them. I would think a Charcoal with still look like it came from factory

you are right, charcoal will probably be a better option. Thank you for the input, I was hoping someone had done it and could tell me what they used and how it has held up.

if I remember correctly I had a 1985 F#22 LS that had black contact paper on the horizontal part of the dash.... ?

Are you talking about the horizontal large fiberglass surfaces or the fiberboard inserts for the dash panels?

just take a look at the vintage brochures if you need to be reminded.

large fiberglass surfaces

My '87 242SS had bare black fiberglass for these surfaces, dull and aging. I wet sanded and polished to a very acceptable finish.
