Quicksilver Throttle Issue- 272 LS with duals
 

Found a bunch of good info on here already. Trying to sort this issue myself- I'm a decent mechanic but this is my first boat.

86 Formula 272 LS Has twin 350's w/ alpha 1 outdrives. Has the old Quicksilver dual throttle with power trim. I know they have problems with the throttle only button and are junk but looking to fix this quickly, hopefully myself.

Port side lever is stuck in throttle only. I've tried WD-40 and can't get it free up. I put the button in for throttle only and when I get to neutral the button pops back nicely but continues to only work the throttle.

Ideas? I don't want to replace the throttle and cables if I don't have to. Picked up a used mercruiser throttle but I think I need to do the cables too if I swap this. Don't feel like throwing money at it if there's an alternative.

Just an update to this in case anyone has a similar issue. The throttle only button appeared to be working fine after wd40- and I was right. Turns out the shift foot on the outdrive was installed incorrectly and wasn't working. All sorted now.
