1990 242ss dash material?

I have a 90 242 ss my instrument cluster cracked at the corner. Anyone know what they used so I can make a new one that doesn't look out of place. I'd rather just replace what was already there. Thanks

I replaced mine with plastic sheet covered in black vinyl film. However, if You want the original material maybe try contacting formula support directly, they have been very helpful to owners of older boats in the past.

I tried formula told me it was aluminum first time they let me down. Usually amazing support. It's definitely not aluminum

They are made out of a black abs plastic type material. Try a local trophy shop, they use the same material on trophies to engrave into.

My '87 is some composite material.

Yeah that's what mine has.

They are a composite of some sort of plastic/wood fiber mix that you probably won't find. I had to drill/cut one once and it smelled horrible haha. Anyway, aside from finding one off a boat someone is parting out you may have to improvise.

I cut a dash panel out of aluminum plating the same thickness as the original composite, and then painted it with a flat wrinkle coat paint. It matches the original very good. This was done because I removed the speedometer and installed a gps plotter in its place. I kept the original panel and speedo in case someone ever wants it back to original.

I will be replacing all of my factory panels this winter. If you are not in a hurry perhaps we can work something out. Can you post pics of what you have to make sure they are the same?

I have a complete set out of a 1990 242ls I would be willing to get rid of

If it a rigid or hard material it is a treated paper laminate kind of like Formica.

It is old school engraving material. The newer stuff is flexible.

As mentioned, any trophy shop has it, or can get it in a lot of different color combinations.

The rigid material must be cut with carbide tools.
