White bottom paint question
I have a new to me 2002 307 SS that I need to bottom paint as it will sit in a slip all season. I went with Micron "Shark White on my 330. I thought it looked good. I see Petit makes "Vivid White". Does anyone have either of these? I'm told that Formula uses an off white gelcoat and I'm wondering which would match better. Thanks!

I use Micron CSC in shark white (fresh water), to me it looks gray. Another guy on iboats uses Interlux ePaint EP-2000 on his 330SS and is in saltwater.

I've had several boats anti fouled. One had white anti foul which looked good for about a week then I was forever cleaning the dirty waterline from green slime and marine growth. The contrast of the greenish-yellow against polished white hullsides drove me crazy so I changed to black anti foul.
Total contrast against the hullsides but black and white go well together. The black very quickly fades to a charcoal grey which contrasts the white nicely. I still cleaned the marine growth off but not as often. Depends on the water where you berth and anti foul products get better every year but for me, I'd stick with black. RR P.S. Just read the o.p. again (properly) and I see you've had experience with white on a previous boat. Maybe you have nicer water than me or maybe you're just better at cleaning boats than I am.... :) |
I use ePaint EP-2000 (white), which leaves a smooth/hard surface, in case you are looking for additional choices.

How well did the ePaint match your hull on the Formula?
