1987 223 ls
I have searched and have not been able to find any info on this boat that I am looking to purchase. Is there anything i should be looking for that doesn't stand out. It does have to poorly executed repairs on the cudy deck next to the hatches. Is this a common problem with these boats thanks for any advise. I would post pictures but the site wont let me.

Look at transom, stringers, and bulkheads for rot would be your main concern.

It's in Roxbury, NJ has a rebuilt 454 new bravo 3 drive. I am over 5 hours away so I have talked with him a lot looked at lots of pictures and videos but its still not like seeing it with your own eyes.
Why would they put a b3 on it? I guess maybe a little better efficiency?
Ins paid for it I guess go big or go home when someone else is paying.
Not really a big or home kind of thing though. Twice the props to buy, if I'm not mistaken they don't go any larger than a 26 maybe 28. Just odd to me to see on a 223. See more of that on real heavy boats like pc and other type like that.
I see I have a lot to learn been out of boating for 15 years. I suspect you will have great low end take off and suffer some top end speed would that be correct?
Pretty much. They come out of the hole great, they cruise great with minimal slip ratio. On the top they aren't as good due to having more in the water with the extra prop. You won't be racing it so you'll be fine.

Thanks

That stress crack is rather concerning. Definitely get a survey done if you aren't comfortable with checking the stringers and bulkheads. I'm not going to go out and say it's rotted, but I would be VERY surprised if it doesn't have rotted stringers by the fuel tank and the bulkhead where you step down into the berth. Check under the step for moisture. It doesn't look like it was very well cared for even though someone at some point did put a lot of effort into painting evening and making it their own style.

Thanks REDNECK

Not trying to be a downer. But it is a 30 year old boat. Hopefully I'm wrong and it just needs some love.

223ls
Had a 223 for over ten yrsbravo 3 is overkill, The cracks on the deck are where the bulkheads are located mine had the same cracks but much less damage. As was said check transom en stringers, all en all very nice boat enjoyed mine. good luck in your hunt

Well done! The 242 has the better hull. 24 degrees vs. 22. Enjoy!
You'll enjoy a 242 over the 223. That thing is very nice! I am jealous.
I wanted a 242 all along just couldn't find one this one just happened to fall in my lap never thought I could buy this one. On a whim gave the seller a call and it all worked out still cant believe how nice this 30 year old boat is.
Nice looking boat! Someone cared a lot about it. Congrats. I remember the feeling you have right now. I stood in the driveway looking at mine and my wife thought I was loosing it. Keep the photos coming, she's a looker.
Agreed! In the cold of December I spent every day playing with mine in the driveway tinkering with little stuff. Now for the last week I've spent every day working on getting the new engine running. They can be a little fussy but sure are fun when you get them out. That one is a jewel! I hope you have a shop to store it out of the elements.

WOW! That thing is a time capsule. Somebody just sold a family member to you.
You literally just quoted my mind. That dude Is straight from 1987. I love it! Keep an eye out under the step after rains and keep your bilge clean and dry. I'd it a stock 330 engine?
I have a 1989 23ft LS with big block and bravo drive for sale. Haven't figured out how to post it for sale on here (new to the forum).
Nice looking, hows it go? 87, is it an alpha drive?
242 ls
very nice boat looks as new, and you have the 2 storage bins in the eng comp, had em in my 223 very handy, usually seems those are always missing. should give you a lot pleasure. congrats
I forgot to ask but does anyone know anything about Pizzagalli racing engines they did some work to it back when it was fairly new not sure what they did?vI haven't be able to find much about them.
