292 Fastech hydraulic steering helm
Since I haven't heard much back from Imco on how much work it would be to install their Hydraulic helm in my 292, would someone here be able to tell me or have any pictures? THANKS!

Latham sells the same teleflex tilt helm you have now but the back has been converted for hydraulic steering . That is what formula uses with their hydraulic steering . . Installs in your original dash with zero modifications. That is what I used and bought the rest of the items from imco. Jeff wurl

Really? IMCO is one manufacturer that's really on the ball. Nothing but 5 stars when it comes to warranty and install questions. Give them another call. Call Teague Marine also. They sell their product. They also have a schematic

Update, contacted Latham about a helm since I've heard jack squat from IMCO. They responded but I didn't get a straight answer on the helm... I've just been chasing my as* on everything for the steering for the last 3 weeks... good thing the season doesn't start for another 3 months here in Chi-town.

IMCO steering is in Nevada. The rest of IMCO products is in California. Two different phone numbers. Sadly California has no clue of their steering products.
Call Ron at 702-294-3030. He is your go-to guy for steering. And yes they're more expensive then Hardin. But Teague Marine sells their product cheaper than any other website, that I have found |

Call Ron at 702-294-3030. He is your go-to guy for steering. And yes they're more expensive then Hardin. But Teague Marine sells their product cheaper than any other website, that I have found I did my install on my 292. Many kits out there but like anything you will need to modify things to fit your application. The current helm hole will need to filled and recut or a plate made to spread the load of the extra weight of the new parts. Unless you can find the adapter to make your current tilt helm work. Pm me if you have any questions I can help with. |
I did contact Ron via email at IMCO Nevada. I spoke to him about which kit I would need, haven't heard back from him even after I mentioned I wanted to purchase. And Jwurl mentioned Latham sells a direct fit helm, which I would much rather use than having to cut up my dash. I will definitely start making phone calls this week. I appreciate all the advice. Just I want to make sure I know exactly what I'm getting into and make sure I'm buying exactly what I want for the $6k I'm about to spend on a steering system. I will post back when I purchase everything, then the work begins when the boat comes out of storage.
