Hey guys going to look at another boat this week and its a bow rider, i know ill take some flack for this. I know we have a lot of members always looking to buy and sell, but what is a realistic number that or were would you start. Its an 1987 242LS 454/Alpha i know what your thinking. Lets here what you have to say good or bad. Mark

Mark, Quit taking your medications, they are impairing your judgement!
Good luck. Gary |
Mark,
Wish you the best of luck with the sale...unfortunately have no insight to your boats value...I think it is worth more with you keeping it and buying the bow rider for the family...:lolhit: Chris |
I would love to keep it but i know it won't get used much, almost done paying for college for the kids and last years kitchen full demo nearly killed me. Im just looking it has to be the right boat a Formula or a Colbalt.
Gary it must be al the cold weather we had this winter making me crazy! |
That’s a sad day.
In my opinion, the engine/drive combo may be the only thing hurting the value to potential buyers that see the Alpha behind the BBC. Without knowing any of the details, I would give a generic ballpark of 10k-15k for a quick and reasonable sale at least in the Maryland area. Do you have anymore details? Trailer condition? Etc... |

Thanks, the trailer is mid 1995 galvanized it has disk brakes on one axel new tires, engine was replaced at 640 hours now about 925-950. Also bimini top with encloser.

I sold mine last year for $15k, but only because I was looking to unload it quickly to get my money back on the 311 purchase. Mine was redone with the blower motor and new rear structure so a totally different scenario. Guessing somewhere in the $7-10k range. The 330/Alpha might make it a harder sell.
I'd keep it personally. You've got a really nice boat! |
That engine is beautiful. Needs a spark arrestor but it looks very nice. The entire boat looks great. I hate to see one like this get sold. Like mentioned above the alpha drive is a downer but it is what it is. If you absolutely must sell it I wouldn't take less than 10k for it. I done A LOT of shopping before I got my 242 and yours is in very good shape. If it were a bravo I'd say around 14k.

<div style="text-align:left;">Take lots of pics. You will be talking about that boat for the rest of your life and the pictures will prove that you really owned it. My dad was that way about his ‘50 Mercury and always said “should have never sold that car”. I’m not trying to talk you out of selling or anything, LOL. Have you thought of bringing the old bird up to date instead of buying a newer boat? I’m sure you haven’t come to this decision easily so I won’t continue to bust your balls but if you change your mind, I have a healthy 502 and a complete Bravo steering to prop I can make you a deal on. Good luck going forward and I hope you wind up with a 311 like Tom’s👍</div>

Tom’s 311 is stuff dreams are made of. Haha! |
ph, All is good i have plenty of pics of the kids growing up on the boat and lots of good times to be honest i would love a 272 with small blocks, that way i don't need a bigger truck. The boat i looked at was not as clean as i was hoping, why don't people clean there stuff before showing it. We will keep looking i know once college is done there should be more money to spend i just don't want to jump because the of a low price and to much unknown about certain things. It would be much easier to buy new if i had a $125k just doing nothing.
|
I'm thinking around $12K. If it was a bit newer (1990-91), then maybe $14K
