Full Hydraulic Helm rebuild
I have a full hydraulic steering on a 312 that is leaking from the helm unit. Has anyone rebuilt these units before or replace the front seal where the input shaft goes for the steering wheel. I see there are rebuild kits for other rand helm units but Latham does not offer a rebuild kit. They state the only option is to replace whole unit.
Any suggestions? |
Any local hydraulic shop can rebuild it if you pull it and take it to them.

Thanks I am hoping to drop it off or at least get more information tomorrow from a hydraulic shop. Was able to track down to a Danfoss unit. |
How many hours are on the Orbitrol? Get a price first tell them you just want it resealed. Should only cost about $100. Full rebuild is about three hundred and some change.

Dropped it off at a reputable hydraulic shop that have worked on these units before. They are charging $200 full rebuild if needed including seal kit and parts. After he saw my unit fluid clean suspect no issue with corrosion with unit told me it could be as low as $125. im responding for others members cuz I hate unfinished threads. i hope this helps others and thank you all for your help and guidance |
Charlynn (Eaton) sells only shaft seals for these units. I ran a hyd repair shop for 40 years, These are not repairable other that the shaft seal as you cannot buy factory parts.
