Default 86 242ls QUICKSILVER SHIFTER NO TRIM UP....HELP?

Hey guys I just purchased my Bird and I was wondering what I should look for on my shifter. The trim up button will not work but the trailer up button does. Anyone know if I can get parts or what wires do what? Any insight will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jason

tw-17 quick silver binnacle control I believe

Trim limit switch is most likely your problem. Make sure both wires are connected in bilge and trouble shoot from there.
It could be the switch on the shifter but usually the limit switch. A volt/ohm meter will tell the story.
Congrats and good luck.

so i checked power at the switch and found power when i push the switch. However im not real familure with how the system operates. I pulled bot caps on port and starbooard sides of the trim limit switches and both had grease on the contacts. I will have to bring home my meter and ohm out the wiring from the switch to the solenoid. See if i have a good wire. Both wires on the trim limits are in decent shape. I think there is a broken wire from the switch to the solenoid.

scratch all that. I pulled the port side limit switch and it was installed improperly. Would never make contact. Rated to the 11oclocl positon and boom. Trim works like a charm.

Just that easy. Now that you removed the trim POSITION sensor you may need to re-adjust for accuracy.
Glad it worked out for you.

Follow the instructions that can be found on Google. It's a simple process.
