350/Alpha to 350 Mag/B1. 242LS. ???

I am looking at converting to a EFI 350 mag / Bravo from a 350 carb/Alpha and have a few questions. Bolting it in shouldn’t be a problem but how about the wiring? Is it as simple as a hot, ign & ground? The guy said he has everything from pulling it out. Also, does it run a mechanical lift pump to the high pressure fuel pump for the mpi?

different ECM and part number - not a simple bolt up and go -

I have a carb now so I assume no ecm. He has every piece of wiring and the ecm.

Search alpha to bravo conversion. You will have to drill 2 holes in the transom. The efi uses 2 electric pumps. It will have a ton of wires on it. It will have all of the sensors to set it into guardian mode if something isnt correct or even if a ground gets dirty. I personally hate the factory mercury efi set up. But I'm one of few. I say stick to the carb set up if you know how to work on it. Just my $.02, might save you a few grand and alot of hours cursing at it.

Carbureted 502 in front of that Bravo will make everyone in the boat smile wider. That small block is going to leave you wanting.

What Redneck and 1971 said, especially if you are not familiar with the EF'ing induction.
The Alpha to Bravo is straight up, 2 drill holes and a new shift plate (check with sick stinger for this) and you are done.
Redneck what top speed did you see in your 242?
Good luck.

my bad TOTALLY did not see the carb but do not why I thought you were going from alpha to bravo using the same efi engine. Getting tired can wait for this holiday to get over with.

So far I have gotten 76 at 5800 with a 23 mirage plus, 1/4 tank of fuel, 3 adults, large loaded cooler and all my junk, and that was about a 45 second blast from cruise with plenty left. Not done tuning by any means. Hoping I can flirt with 80 in perfect situation, no gear, by myself, light fuel, fingers crossed.

maybe this will give you some motivation to go the bravo route, but rather than waste time with small block find you a hp500 or something similar. I got my 509 (30 over bored hp500, different cam and intake) for a great deal from sick stinger. He parts out boats ans often gets fresh built engines like the one I got from him.

He usually lists stuff in the Swap Shop section of OSO as well as a few performance boating groups on Facebook.
