longer steering wheel hub for OE wheel?
i'm in the middle of retrofitting my '89 242LS with tilt steering, and i'm wondering if anyone makes an extended steering wheel hub for the OE formula wheels that have the non-industry-standard mounting hole pattern (6 holes for the wheel and a 7th for the center cap).
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...518c3cf18d.jpg on a side note, am i the only one who thinks these helms are way too low? i am doing the tilt soley for the added height. i'd love to have bolsters in this boat, but i wonder if they'd be awkward with the wheel so low anyways? granted i'm 6'3", but still. drove my buddy's 25' checkmate over the 4th and his wheel is at least a foot higher than mine |
No, I am 6'3" and large, it is definitely a low steering wheel, completely different position from all other boats I have driven over many years!!

I’m 6 foot and that’s the first thing I thought when I got our boat. The bolsters once dropped make it bareable but I still wish i could tilt it up. Not sure how the bolsters compare to the swivel seats in the seated position but your more then welcome to come check mine out before you pull the trigger on some to see if it would be worth it to you. |
Did you check cpperformance they may have something, i guess i`m lucky only being 5`7 in the bolsters its pretty good for me but tilt steering is the way to go.

Nobody makes any hub for that wheel. You will need to buy the longer hub and a new wheel.

It’s true. I’m going through the same thing myself. My factory wheel won’t work with the new hydraulic helm. I may have an adapter milled at a later time. |
What steering column are you using? I would really like tilt on my 242. |
