Nobody knows anything about this boat? Anybody know how many 292’s/311’s came with 502’s?

FormulaSR,

Welcome to the forum. I owned 1 of 5 1991, 292's with factory 502's and B1 drives, with 1:3.6 ratios. This was communicated to me through Formula directly, and the owner provided all the original documents to support it. I am not familiar with the one you are speaking of, but I can tell you that the one I owned, I purchased from the original owner which was delivered in the Chesapeake Bay area. If you can get a HIN, then contact Formula TAG and they may help you out with some information.

Good looking boat. Was the 1.36 what made it 1 of 5?

I brought up the old post that I am pretty sure is the boat I am looking at.

The 502's is what made it 1 of 5, in 1991.

One of 5?

How did someone get that info? I called formula and emailed. My 88 272 has a rare engine option but no one at formula could say how many where produced like mine..... ?

I received this information some 10+ years ago, directly from Formula. Back then, they would very willingly provide a lot of information, and copies of docs and what not. They still provide excellent customer service, however, a few years back they did refrain from providing such historical details, maybe based on the amount of time it takes to research, as some of the older records were never converted electronically from paper. Can't recall specifically who I spoke with, but was faxed docs and let them go with the buyer when I sold the boat.

Ok right. Years ago they did that for you. 2.5 years ago they said what you said. Thanks

So in 1991 there were only 5 292’s with 502’s is what you saying. Was 1991 the first year of the 502 or was 1990?

Yes. The 292 was built stock with 454's. The buyer could order the option to upgrade to the 502's. With the 502 option, drives were also changed to 1:36 from 1:50 with the 454's.

Not sure what the first year of the 502's were.

FormulaSR 09-17-2018 04:02 PM

Interesting. I don’t see many 292’s with much more than 330’s. I thought the 502’s was a huge plus. What speeds did you see with the 502’s?
