311 w/ 454 Mag Best Prop Suggestions

Hello... I’m new to the forum and have had a 311 for a couple years now. I was curious what is the best prop for the Formula 311. To maximize speed, handling, etc. I had read some stuff that the hydromotove 4 blades were a good fit. But since finding that and doing more searching I can’t recall all those details now. So what’s the best prop for the boat and why?

I had a set of hydromotive 4 blade terminators on my 302sr1. I forget if they were 22 or 24 pitch. Boat jumped on plane good midrange and top end.

thank you.... so you recall if the top speed stayed same or slowed or increased? What prop did you have prior to, the 23 p 3 blade?

Top end stayed the same. Previous was 23 pitch mirage plus. Boat had 330s top speed 63

I had a 1990 311 with 454 Mags and really liked Lab 3 blade Mercury props

I like the way the 3 blade mirage 23p I have on it work.

I was was curious if anyone used the 4 blades and it it resulted in more speed.

I have had two 311s and found that with 4 blades they would want to bow steer a little. I was turning them out. With the Lab 3 blades 25s I could pull the same RPMs as 23s but picked up 3 to 4 MPH cruise.

So you ran 25 p on the 311. What rpm did you spin? I have 23 p and run about 4600 at 62mph. I have 454 mags w/ bravo.

I would have thought the 25 would load the motor too much.

Went from 23 Mirages to 26 Bravos on my 302 with warmed up 420s and TRS drives. Lost about 400 RPMs and 2 mph at the top, but the midrange jumped significantly, and overall the whole boat feels more responsive. It's a trade off I'll take for real world boating.
