Formula 260br possible purchase questions
Inquiring on a 2000 260br for a friend. It has a 454 mag with b3 drive. Has imco power flow manifolds. 350 hours. Said to run great. Boat look to be a good shape from the pictures.
Are there any problematic areas I need to be looking at when i inspect it? |
No clue on the bow riders in terms of problem areas. Good boats I hear (Formula after all), but take a lot of power to be fast (again, Formula after all). ;) I see them out on the water occasionally. Nice family boats. |
Not anything specific to the 260BR, that I know of . . . . In general with a 19 year old boat, you will want to check the main bulkhead, just ahead of the engine and the stringers leading fore and aft from it, for signs of moisture, cracks, darkened wood, etc.
Make sure the outdrive is in good shape. Salt water or fresh water? 19 years in salt water would be a bit iffy on the engine block. |
Boat test shows best cruise at 27.9 mph and top speed 53.8 mph with 380hp VP. If the motor is a MPI it should be about the same

Boat is said to have never been in salt water. Only in rivers of Louisiana so I'd say it's slightly brackish. Owner says it has been flushed and always stored inside after every run. Plan is to head over early Saturday morning and give her a good look over.

I do not have the year down for when Formula changed their build techniques, but they all used wood in the transom at that time (I had heard that was still the case even now). |
