Replace both with Delco Voyagers. Reliable as all get out, and a good ignition curve for the supercharged engines. Can be repaired easily with parts from NAPA, etc.

Just replaced the 305 in my cousins boat with a 350 crate. It came with one like the Voyager. Not that brand but it was easy to set timing on and has seemed to do well for the 15 hours on it now.

Do the Rev limiters have to be there to run correctly ?

The additional advice i received so far also includes
replace with msd rev limiter
remove rev limiter and splice wire.
And replace with v6 module (better advance curve for 525sc) and which removes rev limiter.
I will be calling msd to verify compatibility and harness needs as one option if i choose that.
