Default 502 MPI's

Hi folks. Just curious if you think replacing the stock flame arrestor's with something like the K&N's is worth it or not? My boat has Twin 2000 8.2L Mag MPI's. Thank you.

I have them, but only replaced the stock arrestors because the plastic nipples broke off the side.

I don't believe they are worth anything for power as I didn't notice any top end improvement.

Some will actually rob horsepower. Do a search on the General Tech forum. This has been covered.

Short answer... the stock Gen V flame arrestor flows the best out of the bunch.

Correct. And verified.

Articfriends has done these tests on his dyno.

We have a year 2000 7.4 mpi - all stock - We have been using the factory supplied air intake/flame arrestor. Wondering if a K&N Filter would muffle the "sucking sound" that is just horrible around the 3500 rpm range.

thoughts?

Doubtful, and you’ll also restrict airflow.

Thanks everyone..... I figured I'd ask the pro's here. Truly appreciate the valuable input.
