So , if the truck is rated to tow the weight - what is the issue with the emergency stop?

Can understand if the vehicle was not rated for the load.

Look at a a 2019 2500 or 3500 diesel GMC - rated at only 14.5K trailer. The capacity is based on the stoping power, axle, trans, engine and weight of the truck. The rating is verified in testing, it's not an arbitrary number.

Don't waste your time unless you're going, Mia 10 miles. It's good for that but nothing but frustration thereafter.
You need 3/4 ton diesel anything else is not fit for the pull.

If we open the options up a bit, there is nothing wrong with a Ford f350 with the v10 gas engine. They can be had cheap because everyone wants a diesel. I just bought a 2011 service truck from work with 250k on it for $1500. Strong engine and runs well. Obviously it gets 9mpg but if you dont daily drive it who cares.

Just another option to consider rather than parting ways with your $50k z71 to get a $70k duramax.

I agree on the 2500 but small V8 just doesn't do it. It's tolerable to put it politely.

I have to agree with that. The 6.0 and 6.2 gm engines are great but dont hold a candle to the big blocks when towing.

you mean diesels? Not big block... ? I ask this only because my 6.o gas in my 2500 hd has more hp and tq than any 90s big block in a truck and thats a fact.

Agreed. I got a V10 Excursion 4x4, paid more than RNC (RedNeckCustoms) but still a great VALUE just for pulling.

I was referring to the 6.0 and 6.2 gas burner in the gm 2500 and 3500 trucks. Anything newer than let's say 2000. I was comparing them to 8.1 gm gas burner and the Ford v10 gas burner. I'm not knocking diesels. I personally tow with one of the few 12v cummins I have.

I was just trying to open up a budget friendly possibility for the man. Cheap tow rig while being able to also have his nice new daily driver.
