Fastech windshield support/re-enforcement

Hey everyone, I know I'm not the only one who has had problems with the windshields in Fastechs. Mine has flexed so much up front that it has started stripping screws out. I have installed bigger screws but I know that is just a band-aid fix. I was curious if anyone has installed a nice support from the center of the windshiled to the dash? Of if anyone has made an extended piece (the center C-channel piece) to go across the top rail of the windshield. Pics and feedback would be Greatly appreciated!

I went through the same thing a few years ago after blowing out my windshield on Lake Erie. I took a wave over the bow and the frame flexed, causing the glass to shatter. I spoke at length with Formula about it.. They had no solution. I looked into fabricating a shaft to mount in the center of the dash and the frame, but concluded the angle of the windshield was too sharp on my 353 to allow for the placement. I assume this is why Formula did nothing also.

I also looked into other materials for the glass, but concluded the existing setup was best. I gave up at that point.

If you do find a solution, please post it as I would be very interested to learn about it.

For what it's worth, near the rear sides of mine, I used stainless L brackets and screws to help hold it in place.

I've been thinking about adding a T shaped plate to the top of the windshield on the under side about 8 inches across and most the way down the center. If it still has too much movement, ill add a strut or support to go down to just in front of the cabin door. I think that will be the cleanest/strongest option. Gonna start blueprinting something this weekend.

Please post your results. I'd like to see what you come up with.

I put bolts and nuts where the frame anchors at the extreme rear of the frame. If this is loose it will allow the entire frame to flex. Sheared off the screws. Bolts and nuts held.

Yes right where the top windshield rail terminates.

we had the same issue with our old 292...sheared the bolts off. Not sure if there is an easy fix.

nothing against formula they make a nice boat...but the fastech line is not meant for big offshore water. It just isn’t...

our helm was seperating from the hull, windshield coming off, hydraulic steering reservoir broke off the bulk head, stress cracks everywhere, cabin door came off the tracks, etc...

I love my 292 .I am having same issue with windshield . I am slowly realizing that Fastech might not be best way to go fast on the Great Lakes..... This lake kicked my butt more then once already.
