Full hydraulic steering install questions

Looking to install a full hydraulic steering kit on my 1990 272 Sri, just looking for some pointers and tips and what kits you fellas have used with great success like IMCO,Mayfair, zeiger or any other brand. My boat has twin BBC’s mated to bravo ones. From my measurements it looks like I need to purchase a kit that mounts the hydraulic cylinders on inside of the outdrives since I can’t mount cylinders on the outside due to my trim tab location. Iam looking to purchase the IMCO 421-2014R kit, any help and tips appreciated thanks fellas.

IMCO is a good choice, you have twin BBC's in a 27' boat ?.............I had a 33 Outlaw and the rams were in the middle also

Call Ron at IMCO Nevada and tell him what boat you have and the drive centerline and he'll tell you exactly what kit you need. I installed full helm to stern from IMCO and couldn't be happier!

Yep the 242 sr1 with twin small blocks and the 272 sr1 with big blocks are bad a$$ boats. Swim platform actually makes it 29’ if it’s still there . 272 or 292 would be my next choice for waters I boat in.

I did IMCO on my 35 Fountain. Took a couple days. Is like a totally different boat with it. Should have come from the factory that way. Don't know why it did not.

272 SR1’s came with big blocks and bravos. 272 LS had small blocks and alphas mostly.
Most steering systems will hit the silent thunder platform when you trim up all the way. It will bend the rams. I’d recommend cleaning the underside of the platform or making sure your limit switches for trim work.

Wow, that setup looks boss. I agree - this is how it should have come factory... I keep flipping between just replacing my helm/cable/actuator vs. full hydro, mostly due to price, but also install hassle. Should have done it when I had my engines out last winter, but was already tapped $$.
I'm tired of the free play and always feeling like I'm moving the wheel left/right just to keep the boat strait.
