382 gas tank?
 

Looks like I may need a new gas tank for my 382. Does anyone know of any scrapped 382's or a source for a good used tank? I don't mind buying new (especially gas tanks!), but thought that I would look around first.

I might be in the same boat, let me know what to expect as I find out. Not sure what a new one costs. I am going to assume a used one is just a few years away from what i have now.

you can sent the tank to a metal shop and have the bottom replaced or a new bottom over the excising one and up the sides a few inches saves a lot of coin and works very well

OK: Here is the situation:

1) Florida Marine Tanks (Patrick Industries) makes the tank, Formula drawing #62247. I have asked for a quote, but have not heard back from them.
2) I definitely have a leak. I get a quart or so of raw gas out of the center drain plug every two weeks. The center plug drains the area between the hull and the grid; not the bilge areas under the engines.
3) No welder in my area will agree to doing a major rebuild (like a new bottom) on a fuel tank. If it turns out that the problem is minor; they will consider repairs.
4) If the tank has significant corrosion, I'm going to replace it with a new (certfied) one. I don't want liability issues down the road.
5) Once you consider that cost of removing and re-installing the tank (tedious, but not horrible), the tank itself is probably only half of the total.

In the meantime, I'm pumping this baby dry until I can get things resolved...

Replaced my 105 gal tank in 2014 from Florida MT and cost $1400 which included epoxy coating. The old tank was not leaking yet but was getting thin. Its been sitting in my shop ever since as a table top, Formula part number 8083
