Has anyone polished the windshield frame?

Ive really been digging the look of a clear windshield and a super / high polished frame. I was thinking about picking up some Chemical Guys Heavy Metal polish and going after it with a rotary polisher.

Pics Please!

Normally you take the glass out and send the frame to a polisher.

Is there a reason to run the risk of damage to a windshield from removal to polish the frame?

I was thinking of taping off the windshield, and going about it that way.

You you are talking about a stainless windshield frame that needs to be repolished correct?

Yeah, for sure needs to come apart. Needs to be paint stripped then polished then sealed with a lacquer or something because polished aluminum will tarnish.
My dad owned a plating shop for 30 years so I know the process for this. I personally wouldn't do it, it's a lot of labor to get it apart and put back together. Plus the stripping polishing sealing cost would be at least $1000.

I don't plant to do this, just stating, that on my boat this part as far as I can tell is aluminum, not stainless.

Your windshield is powder coated alum. The ones you see that are polished are Stainless Steel. I would leave well enough alone unless it is in really bad shape and then I would have it redone in powder coat. A color that matches your paint job can look pretty cool sometimes.

tape it off with frog tape. Sand it with 400 grit then 600 wet. Sand in length direction. Then polish it. Clean with alcohol then spray engine clear coat on it. Looks like new for ever.

My windshield frame started to blister.....I removed the entire thing..took out the glass and had it blasted then re-powdercoated......wish I had the stainless option ($15,000).
