400ss engine cover removal?
Repowering my ‘99 400ss and will have to get the engine cover / rear seat / trunk assembly removed soon. I was figuring I’d basically have to get some big straps around it with padding and lift it off with a forklift or chain fall from an overhead beam. Friend that’s going to help, and has worked on boats for years, says some manufacturers have hidden lift points under cushions (or somewhere) on big parts like this. Anyone aware of this being the case on the 400ss or am I on the right track just wrapping a couple straps around it? Thanks in advance.

I am not aware of any. I have a 292 FasTech, and I just used tow straps from my jeep (clean ones) wrapped around it, then a center one to keep them in place, and some small ropes. Then a crane lifted it off once unbolted, then I sat it down on some saw horses.

had mine off 6 years ago. it is temping to lift with a forklift by the rails, but getting a few straps with u shape ends works well. lift up and pull pin, use dc tools and remove hardware. keep track where each bolt goes. have a soft spot to set it down so not to hammer the edges.
