Then we filled the cracks and holes preparing for finishing. |
The upper holes can be used for tow mounts. Great position. Just saying.

Coat the wooden openings for the exhaust with resin to keep out any water intrusion into the transom wood.
I would also fill in the exhaust mounting holes, 3 ea. as your new tips (assuming you are going to replace with nice ones) will most likely have 4 holes. |
I gotcha, I did think about that and other possibilities to keep them, but decided to have our “bird” a bit different and clean the back up.

When primer was fully cured, we again filled all imperfections and sanded again preparing us for the spraying process. |
