2002 271 Fastech fuel indicator not working

Hello

My indicator has been working every now and then but now it's stuck to empty.

From where and how do I can get to the sensor in the tank?

Pave 08-23-2022 05:04 AM

What I've been looking it seems that I have to make a hole to the floor to get to to sensor/sender?

Who the hell wants to watch the fuel flow, it is bad enough to watch the fuel pump at the dock?! The dollars spin so fast you cannot even read it ! LOL, just BS' ya, but it is ridiculous right now. See post about on enough is enough.

Not interested in fuel flow but I'd like to know when I have to fuel up it and now the "empty" light is on all the time. :-)

edit: and here in Finland fuel is now about 10.3dollars for a gallon, :-)

Looky what i found for your boat :)

I have not worked on your model boat, but have tons of others. Most fuel tank senders are under a approx 8” round plastic access cover (see pic) and less typical, another shaped removable cover.

Hmh,

In the engine compartement there is a cover looking like that, you think you can acces the sensor from there?

SB 08-23-2022 11:22 AM

If on the floor, Yup. Usually right under it. That is why they are are there on boats.

Note. Some covers spin on. Some just pry up. The outer screwed in frame stays put.

I have a different model FastTech. But my access plate is under the rear seat under the center rectangle deck panel. Haven't been there in a while but it's either 4 or 6 screws holding the deck panel in place. Gives access to the fill hose, supply hoses, and sender.

Have you ruled out the gauge by grounding the sender wire?

the fuel sender on my 292 is under the rear seat, under the center panel (remove approx 8 Phillips screws), when removed there is an access port.

SB. I was able to use your link and change it to a 292 and it worked. Thanks for the PDF!
I love service manuals and similar. Any more files you have, please let me know!
