292 fastech repower options
Hello. What options are available these days as an upgrade from stock 2004 6.2 MX mercruiser engines. Any one running a custom rebuild, Ilmor, Mast, Marine power LS engines with more horsepower? If so, how much gain is there?

I'd be surprised if there is room. in my 292, those 350s sure are in there tight.

Big blocks will not fit in a 292 fastech.

How they managed to squeeze 454ci out of a SBC is beyond me, but they apparently did. Thanks. Brad. (937)545-8991 |

Actually, it specs a 4.25 bore, so it's a 4" stroke. I'm guessing they'd have to be Siamesed cylinders.....? The key, here, is that it would appear to be feasible squeeze a couple of "BigBlocks" where there isn't room for a couple of BigBlocks. I don't know how well these would hold up to the duty cycle in a marine application, but I'm sure that could be addressed at assembly/build with proper valve train specs, right? Thanks. Brad.
