Lake of the Ozarks Formula Rendezvous
 

Trying to see who is going to the Formula Rendezvous this august at glencove marine in Lake of the Ozarks. Do we have FIRM dates yet? I'm trying to rent a house. No, you guys have to get your own place. I'll be bringing my F206 and my F402 for a show of force. I'm trying to talk an Illinois buddy with a F302Kamma into going as well. I would love to get a large contingent of gofast Formula's to take this event over. It always seems that the reports in Formula Action on any of the Rendezvous around the country have an overabundance of PC's. Nothing against our PC brethren .....but. How about 75 or more SR1's converging on Party Cove and rafting off in the line. Hey, lets get this thing going. Instead of it being a midwest regional event, this should be the NATIONAL event for Formula owners. LOTO has to be smack dab in the center of the country. :cool:

Dates need to be posted!! I would love to come & bring the blown 312 down. Never been to LOTO yet, but look forward to it this year.

I smell vacation!!! I've never been to LOTO either, but would love to go for a week or so. I've got a 303SR1-twin 502's(no blowers "yet") Love to meet other Formula owners.

I saw a Formula Action article last year that posted dates of August 1st through the 3rd at Glencove marine but that was the last thing I saw. I'll go on Formula's site after this to see if they have anything there. Otherwise I'll call Glencove tomorrow. Glad to see the enthusiasm. I was going to this event no matter what. Then some new freinds I made at Winthrop Harbor,north of Chicago, showed me their home movies from numerous vacations at LotO. Before you say "BORING" let me tell you.......I have NEVER seen vacation movies like this. Glencove is going to have trouble keeping people out of Party Cove during their event. Rev up your search engines boys, and look up Lake of the Ozarks-Party Cove. Look for an "adult" site there(any should do). You'll get a glimpse of what I saw on my buds home movies. They told me that if the cops hassle anyone, It's because of total nudity or lewd behavior. They(THE COPS) tell the ladies they should at least have their bottoms on.........Hmmmmm. So Toolman, are bringing that rig out from N.J.?Blown, you are just a hop skip and a jump, no excuse for you. And Cuda, if I can tow 17,000 lbs eleven hours from northern Illinois, you can certainly make it from Florida. I've been watching your posts for two years now and I want to meet Cudaman.I'll post whatever I find.........I smell VACATION........Al p.s. to toolman, "I smell vacation!!" ....a great motto for this adventure......:cool:

I am picking up my new 292 the end of March and am excited about this kind of a weekend deal. Please, please, any info you all could give me would be greatly appreciated! I'm in PA and would love to get together with a bunch of Formula owners especially from Off shore only. It sounds grrrreat.

Just got off Formula's website. They used to have a section there dedicated to Formula Rendezvous. Not there anymore. I blasted off an email to them asking for info. Should hear tomorrow. Also blasted an email to Glencove Marine who is the sponsoring dealer at LOTO. Should have info tomorrow to share.

I towed an enclosed car carrier from Jersey to Springfield Mo. and that was one loooong a$$ ride :(
And that was only 7000 lbs:rolleyes:

Northeast rendezvous sounds great! Keep us posted where and when. If none exists, we should just create our own! I vote Jellyfish Joels in the Chesapeake Bay!!!

Maybe I misunderstood you mopower. In an earlier post, you stated you thought there was usually in the NE. You said you trailer 7,000 from NJ to MO and it was looooooong! I thought NE meant Northeast. Appologies are in order I guess. I agree it would be great to have one in the Northeast. Rick

I think it was two years ago they had a Rendezvous in Conneticut. I didn't make it to that one.
I did mean northeast not Nebraska when I used NE. The trip to Springfield MO was for a car show;) . And in my case the enclosed car carrier (7000 lbs) was LIGHTER that my boat and trailer:( and a solid two day drive.
They usually have a few each year , in different parts of the country. This way there are accessable to more people.
There was also one at Lake Lanier Ga. not long ago. Even that's not too bad ...maybe 12 hr's from this area.

I know. This is an easier way to keep the old heart rate up rather than exercizing.

I have every reason to believe there is but da folks down in Decatur are apparently too busy building boats to answer my numerous emails. Can't figure out that deal. I'll call them and raise hell tomorrow..............Al

My lost posts relayed the info that the Formula rendezvous was going to be scheduled for either the weekend of July 25 thru 27 or it was going to be August 1 thru 3. Barb at glencove was going to let me know for sure by the end of this week (by march 14) Glencove has dock space at their yacht club that the big boats should take advantage of if they need to. Check with the chamber of commerce site at www.golakeozark.com for info on hotels, rental condo's or rental homes. If I remember correctly, Chart indicated there might be some of the same info on offshore only but I don't remember what the links might be. Anyway, I hope this helps...........Al

There were many posts before OSO gatherings at Memorial Day and for the Shoot Out, in Aug or Sept. Many members talked about different condos they rented and the management services they worked through. I don't have the links, but a search on LOTO during the month prior to each of the above should produce the threads.

While never attending it personally (always conflicted with a family renunion also at the lake) I've seen the boats gather for the group picture. Looks like a good time.

FYI: the lake starts at the dam, Mile Marker zero. Glencove is at MM 3, on the south side, and the Yacht Club is close to the dam, on the south side. Party cove is in an arm off the 20 MM or so. Most activity is between the 30MM and the Dam. Past the 30MM is basicly the old lake, much as it was in the 50's. Very quite.

Even if I have a family renuion that weekend, I can break away to meet OSOers who traveled a long ways to LOTO. It is a fun, but rough lake. So be prepared for 3-4 foot waves during busy peak times.

It's been three weeks and still no answer from Formula or glencove marine on the dates for the LOTO Formula rendevous. Two years ago in Formula Action they posted the dates and said it was going to be the "WORLDS LARGEST" Formula rendezvous in history. Now, only four months away, and there isn't anyone in charge that can get their head out of their butt to make a decision. How in the hell do they get these boats into their clients hands if they can't even set a date for a party? SHEESH! Maybe I'll hear this week?
