Tie em down front and rear... coming back from the ramp once just 3 miles from my house and after a heavy rain, I was coming around a turn, my trailer clipped a collapsed storm drain and the boat cocked way over. It was back to the launch ramp for me to straighten out...

Be careful just throwing a strap over the boat and tieing each end to the trailer. I did that for a 1000 mile trip, and the strap wore into the fiberglass everywhere it touched. It's not something rubbing compound can fix either.

If your roads are like LA freeways..........tie it down! :)

You're correct ,BUT I was just using that for an example. You never know what you're liable to find around the next curve or over the next hill , even on a road thats traveled daily.

OK all - I really appreciate you telling me about driving fast and all, but as was stated. It's not necessarily driving fast that makes the boat shift or come off! How about someone hitting your tow vehicle and it comes to an abrupt stop?? I thank all of you for the advise, but I still haven't heard how to tie it down with the tabs? I will not tie over the stern side to side for the reason given earlier about cutting into the glass. Any other solutions to my tie down problem would be appreciated.

I have had Formula 206, 271, 312, and just picked-up a 353 on Monday. The tie downs on all of them hit the tabs. Simply run the tie downs from the stern eye hooks, around the outside of the tabs, to the trailer hook. This will not damage your tabs and is the way FORMULA recommends doing it. Do NOT tow without stern and bow tiedowns. I am in the marine insurance business and have seen the results of not using tiedowns.

I always wrap a strap around the top of the stern, seems to have always worked well for me! But I NEVER go without strap, contrary to alot of other opinions. I've never had any scratches either. But if the strap is loose, it'll flap and make scratches!!
