Troutly, have you "splashed" it yet?

Just wondering if you've been able to splash that beauty yet? Let us know.............

Don't forget the camera! Not that I don't already have many pictures of the boat from Formula. It just seems like a real boat know that someone owns it. Have fun.

Formula Outlaw 08-14-2003 04:41 PM

How about bringing it down to Sarasota for the races?

mika 08-17-2003 08:59 PM

So did you drag that thing to the water or are you still studying it?:D

Formula Outlaw 08-17-2003 10:04 PM

He's taking "driving" lessons from "Too Old".

h2owarrior 08-18-2003 12:09 AM

Sorry to hear about the troubles:( Takes some of the fun out of a new boat. Dosen't sound like anything that cannot be fixed.

I am curious what kind of slip numbers you were getting versus what you expected ?

mika 08-18-2003 10:45 AM

Still sounds better than my boat...........oh yeah, I don't have a boat....:D

It was friggin' hot on Saturday.

h2owarrior 08-18-2003 05:37 PM

WOW....25% does seem high. What props and drive ratios are on the 382 ?

This whole thing of prop slip is of a lot of interest to me. My boat weighs 10,500 - 11,500 depending on fuel, water, people etc. With a set of stock 32's, I range from 13% to 17% slip. I know that "labbing" the props will increase the slip numbers, but will also increase the speed.

Just curious what you are experiencing relative to my experience.:D

Mine's tied to the dock with no less than six lines for the very same reason. I'm also considering adding outriggers, like those Hawaiian surf canoes. I'm going to call them "Training Sponsons".

Thanks Troutly - Sounds like I will get clamp on's if I go that route.

BTW - What are "snufflers" and why did HPI refund half the cost?

I can't wait for Lt. Troutly doing a public service announcement on:

SNUFFLERS

Would you please tape this and send me a copy to bring out at parties for laughter.

They were inspired by Troutleys imaginary childhood friend.

Sounds like my experience with with HPI, except I had the clamp-ons which resulted in a loss in power...but they were very quiet. But I was also overcharged $100 and Dan promised and promised he had sent the check out to me everytime I called...but he never did. On top of that they both blew off and Dan said he would take care of it...his words....his taking care of it was to give me $100 off after I bought another set! ....I would advise to buy through Livorsi Marine if you want the HPI's, but you're better off looking at another manufacturer.

500HP w/ Stainless dry headers. I had the Clamp-ons.
Due to Dan's non-responsiveness to my issues I've had to seek legal action against him and HPI.
