The complete 272 thread

I don't think this has been done yet and I think it would be interesting to anyone doing research, I'm starting a thread for each model boat. I'm hoping they will be the complete "guide" to each model. What I'd like to see in it is hard facts about this model only,(length, beam, available power, years produced, numbers produced, colors, pictures, weights, pricing for different years.)

I'd like to keep out the shopping questions. But feel free to put in comments about likes and dislikes, common problems, and results with different power packages. As time permits, I'll troll through old posts and add info collected through the years. If I didn't start a thread for a model you want to see, start one up with the right subject name.

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Love my 1989 272 EXCEPT for the fact big blocks are a pain in the a$$ to work on (no room). One post factory mod I made was to switch from Merc belt driven seawater pumps to Johnson crank mounted pumps. This cut down impeller change time to 15 minutes from a MINIMUM 1 hr EACH. Plus I put a gate valve on the line coming in so it came even be done in the water.

Produced 1983-1991
Came in LS package until 1987 when SR1 was offered.

Did they start offering the curved windshield on some 1986's???

'83 272

My dad bought his '83 272 new. We now have 1470 hours on it and everything is original. It still starts with one flick of the key. The reliability of my dad's boat was a key factor in my decision to buy a 357 SR1. There's nothing like a Formula!

Anyone out there have one that needs work? I love Formula and want one in the worst way.
