+1 for a sweet ride NOMO. I can see why you want a new hatch lift; something doesn't look right. Not sure if it makes a difference, but my hatch lift was mounted further back, between the engines. Was nice to not have to work around it when working on the engines. It might not have been the original location.

Did you chrome or paint the cokpit hardware, rear handles, steps, controls, etc?

On those 502s, do you have the Formula order sheet? Are they 415hp or 465hp?

NOMO, Wow......hats off to you, well done!!!

I want to talk to you about your helm (dash, gages, trim/plane indicators, sticks, wheel) area. It looks fantastic.

PM to follow.

465 HP Mercs original (few were ordered from what I am finding out).

All the stainless or aluminum parts: Controls and rear steps were polished. The Grab bars, trim indicator bezel, and control base plates were chromed. (a lot of disassembly for this project)

Originally I had the HP 465 air cleaners with the decal on top but when they wore off I got the chrome Eddie Marine cleaners.

sweet ride nomo . i've got an old june 1990 Hot Boat mag with one of the first write ups on the "new" 502's . the picture on the opening page has your motors ,right down to the valve covers and manifolds. it's really a good article on the two engines 465 hp and the 420 hp . i have the 420 hp myself and the article does state the 465 was in limited numbers . great part of the story of my 242ls is the dealer had it listed as a 454 boat but with a little research and formulas help we found its a 502 under the hatch. If anyones interested i could scan the article and email it.
