Seems that there was a warranty replacement hull switched in by Thunderbird Formula in 1989 which explains the Fiberglass platform. The original 242 '83 vintage inner liner and deck cap were removed from the original hull and placed on top of the 1989 replacement hull. Since '89 hulls incorporated the Fiberglass swim platform.

Machloosy saw this Sunday and sent me the pics...said he spoke with the owner and was told that it would plane inside 100 feet!! The acceleration of this boat has to be like a Bass Boat.

That 242 is on it's second care-taker. Guys name is Tom and has had it since 88, re-hulled under warranty by formula in '89. It's incredibly clean

Some nice looking boats guys.....I have always been a formula guy but I just bought my first boat besides the jetboat I have. I am 24 and my dad had a 27 formula most of my life but here is my 1994 - 24' python I bought a few months back.

Thanks Tom. As most people do, I try to add a few things every year to keep it looking current along with just keeping it clean. I've replaced the plastic bow light and anchor locker latch with stainless. I did the cockpit lighting along with the lights under bolsters. I wrapped all the dash panels in a 3D black carbon fiber. I've added the underwater and cabin lights within the last two years as well. Hard to believe she's 11 years old already.

That lighting is awesome.

Tom - I saw upper 70's last weekend with a little chop and more fuel than I wanted on board. However, I think changing the prop up, less fuel and not a passenger I could maybe see 80.
