Default 6 blade Hering props on 382 Fastech?

Has anybody tried this prop package. If so, planing, midrange, top speed gains? Engines, boxes or not?!

Thanx

I have not seen them used on a Formula yet however I would expect great results. We put them on a Cig Top Gun twin step with 575sc's and picked up 4 mph top end (from 90-94) and I think it was 8 mph at cruise. I am trying to recall however they may have been 5 blade props. I just remember being impressed that we picked up at top end even though we added the extra blades. You may want to try calling Phill at Lipship as he has a LOT of experience with these props and I am sure can help you out. www.lipship.com

Thanx Jon for the info. A buddy of mine talked to a poker runner down in Key West at the races in Nov. that had a 42 Fountain w/ stag. 525's and he said he gained 6 mph at cruise and 4ish at top end. I think he had gone from a pair of 4 blades. Would love to here some real world results on a 382!

Thanx again, Tracy

Chaos, I talked to Jim Hering the other day and he said the 6's are 2K per!!! If the above results are valid, can't beat those gains for 4 bills and no decrease in reliability!

Tried 5 blade last summer with hardly any change, mid range or top end. Have 575's, Boxes, sport-master lowers.
Was also wondering if you had any news about the port listing issue?
Thanx

I'm running 32 Bravos (non labbed) on my Tiger.

Buddy has an xtra set of 5 blade Herring 30 Pitch.

Wonder if that will help or hurt the top-end.

Any comments?

Big Dog,

What pitch 5 blades did you try on your 382? I presume they were "labbed" Herrings? Still have them available?

Thanks,

Red Dog

Big Dog, how goes it? Had one of your sweatshirts on the other day! The list issue is, how shall I say it? To the side. Every pun intended!!!!!! To long to explain, need a verbal conversation. Hope to have a chat w/ ya!

Kitty42, had some 27 pitch 5 blade Hydro's on my 382(575's w/ ITS) last summer and went w/ a set of 4 blade labbed 32 pitch Mercs. The 5's planed better but cruise and esp. t/e were not so dif. I know my slip % is way to high w/ the 32's. Hope to try the 5 blade Mercs. this summer and decrease slip and increase the good stuff!!! Hope this helps, Give those Hering's a try.
