Dash remote for stereo

Does anyone have a dash or gunwale mounted wired remote (i.e. sony or access technologies) on a Formula with the black dash? I am going to mount one on my 311 and don't know whether to get black or white. Any pics appreciated. Thanks.

axapowell 02-03-2004 09:34 AM

I have two white remotes mounted on my 1993 303. One is below the trim/tab switches on the black dash (white remote) and the other is mounted on the back of the boat above the swim platform. Access Technologies works with a Sony head unit only. I have an extra one new in the box if you are interested and it is white. I don't think I have any pictures...but I'll check.

You, my good person, have been PM'ed

I need a white one for a Audiovox in the dash. They are no longer available.

Where can I get one of those Access Tech units? My Sony remote junked-out after it got wet (didn't have my bimini up during a cloud burst cause Cuda says biminis are for poodles:rolleyes: )

Those Access units appear to be waterproof.

I can get you one. I am an Access Tech dealer. PM me and I'll give you the details.

Donzilla are you talking about the JBL head unit? If so I do not think that one is made for it.

Jon

Jon,
Not sure of the model? Iwill check tommorow but glancing quickly at the box it did show a remote pad as an accessory but not sure for which model.
Thanks,JIm

To all OSO members:

I have received many requests for pricing on these units, so I’ll offer up a deal to OSO members.

If you reference the pictures above, the RXM10 in either white or black, retails for $149.95. I'll give a discount to fellow OSO members. $139.95 plus shipping. The Sony head unit must have a Unilink port and the SP headphone jack to use this remote. It comes with 15 1/2 feet of cable. If you want to run multiple remotes, I'll quote you on the additional parts needed.

The MRC-2 also comes in black or white and retails for $99.99. On the SONY deck you need to have the SP jack only. It also comes with 15 ½ feet of cable. For OSO members I'm selling them for $89 plus shipping.

If you have any other questions, PM me and we'll go from there.

Thanks,
Dave

Hello axapowell,

I'm also looking for a good remote/head unit setup, and I like the looks of of the Sony stuff.

Do you have any experience from a "usability" standpoint comparing the RXM10 to the MRC-2 units? The RXM10 has the advantage of being the smaller of the two. How's the user interface on it? Buttons big enough? Good feedback?

The real test is when you're flying over 5-footers, and using the remote to crank up the tunes. Which one is easiest to use "blind"? That is, volume up/down, and cd track up/down without having to bend over and read the display?

Thanks in advance,
Brian

i have the RXM10 and absolutely love it!! One of the best things i ever added to the boat. I like the digital display so you can see what's going on.....works great at night too. The buttons are large enough to find when your launching or watching for blowboaters. There is also that handy "att" button that kills the volume, then puts it back when pushed again.

I only have the single CD in the unit, so i never used it with a changer.....but i hear you can switch through all your cd's.

Just purchased a second unit to install on the swim platform. Is there any trick to hooking a second remote up? Can you just hook into the existing remote and be on your way? (I have a Kenwood head unit and two Kenwook remotes) Thanks for the info.

axapowell 02-18-2004 05:59 PM

P4-33...I have the MRC2 near the throttles and I am able to find everything OK. As hi-perf-2000 mentioned, the RXM-10 isn't too bad either. As far as a real wet location goes, I'd go with the MRC2. I have had one mounted just above my swim platform (can change tracks and volume while swimming) for 2 years and it is working perfect! Either one will do the trick. I can get Sony decks too! Get a model number and your best price and I'll see if I can compete.

tesheer...I'm not to sure what Kenwood uses to wire their remotes, bot if it looks like a small headphone jack, you will need a splitter near your primary remote. Check with Kenwood to find out if their remotes are water proof!

Hope that helps.
Dave

Sony's is good but just add a bead of silicone around the unit to be sure it's sealed good.
